Extended
Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)
EOP&S
Program's primary goal is to encourage the enrollment, retention
and transfer of students handicapped by language, social, economic
and educational disadvantages, and to facilitate the successful
completion of their goals and objectives in college. EOP&S
offers academic and support counseling, financial aid and other
support services.
Students
must be a California resident and be prepared to demonstrate financial
need and an educational disadvantage. "Extended" services
include counseling and tutorial support, as well as help with
the purchase of textbooks. Most EOPS students come from low income
families, are the first generation in their families to attend
college, or face other barriers to educational success.
